What we collect
When you book a table online
We ask for:
- your name and phone number
- your email address, if you choose to give it
- the date, time and number of guests for your booking
- any special requests you type in
Special requests are optional. If you tell us about an allergy, a dietary need or an access need, that can be information about your health, which the law treats as sensitive. Please share only what we need to prepare for your visit. We use it for nothing else, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Your booking is saved in the restaurant's booking system, which our staff use to manage tables.
Your card
When the booking form asks for a card, the card secures your online booking. You type your card details into a secure form provided by Stripe, our payment provider, and they go straight to Stripe. We never see or store your full card number or security code. When the booking form does not ask for a card, nothing about your booking is passed to Stripe.
To hold the card against your booking, we pass your name, phone number and email address (if you gave one) to Stripe, and Stripe stores the card. This lets us take the charge for a no-show or late cancellation described in our booking terms. Stripe uses this information as set out in the Stripe privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
When you phone or email us
If you contact us, we use what you tell us to reply and to deal with your request, such as a group booking, a takeaway order or a question about a booking.
Technical information
Like any website, the servers that deliver this site process your IP address and basic browser details so that pages can reach you. We also use IP addresses briefly to limit repeated booking attempts. We do not use them to identify you or to build a profile of you.
How we use it, and our lawful basis
UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use of your information. Ours are:
- Holding your table, calling you to confirm it and contacting you about any change to your booking. Contract: we need these details to take and manage the booking you ask us to make.
- Securing your booking with a card and charging the fee for a no-show or late cancellation. Legitimate interests: protecting the restaurant from tables that are booked but not used.
- Allergy, dietary or access needs you choose to tell us in your special requests. Your explicit consent, given when you include them. We use them only to prepare for your visit.
- Keeping records of any charge we take. Legal obligation: accounting and tax law require us to keep them.
- Understanding how visitors use the website, with Google Analytics, so that we can improve it. Legitimate interests: improving the website.
- Keeping the website and booking system secure, for example by limiting repeated booking attempts. Legitimate interests: preventing abuse of the site.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use your booking details to send you marketing.
Who we share it with
- Stripe, which, when the booking form asks for a card, processes and stores your card to secure your booking, as described above. Stripe may process information outside the UK, using the safeguards UK law requires for those transfers.
- Google, which provides Google Analytics, as described under Cookies below. Google may process information outside the UK, including in the United States, using the safeguards UK law requires for those transfers.
- The providers who host this website and our booking system, who process information only on our instructions.
- Authorities, such as HMRC or the police, only where the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
We aim to keep booking records, including any special requests, for no longer than 24 months after your visit, and we review and delete older records regularly. Where a booking involved a charge, we keep the record of that charge for as long as accounting and tax law require. Stripe keeps the information it holds in line with its own privacy policy.
Cookies
This website uses Google Analytics cookies to understand how visitors use it. Apart from those, it sets only cookies that are strictly necessary for it to work. We do not use advertising cookies. Our own visitor statistics use no cookies at all: they are described under Statistics below.
- Google Analytics cookies (_ga and _ga_E958N6SJBQ). Google Analytics is a service provided by Google. On the public pages of this website, it sets these cookies to tell visits apart and to count how the site is used: the pages you view, the website or link that brought you here, your type of device and browser, and the general area you are in. They last for up to two years. Google uses this information as described in how Google uses information from sites that use its services (opens in a new tab). You can block or delete these cookies in your browser's settings, or stop Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on (opens in a new tab). The admin area never uses Google Analytics.
- Staff sign-in cookie. Set only when restaurant staff sign in to the admin area, to keep them signed in for up to 8 hours. Visitors to the public website never receive it.
- Stripe cookies. On the booking page, Stripe’s secure card form may set cookies to help prevent fraud. They are covered by the Stripe privacy policy.
Statistics
As well as Google Analytics (see Cookies above), we keep our own statistics about how this website is used, so that we can improve it. We keep these ourselves, without cookies and without an analytics company.
When you use the site, your browser tells us about:
- the pages you view
- taps on our phone number, our email address, the map and directions links, the takeaway order link, the links to OpenTable, TripAdvisor, Instagram and Facebook, and the links to our booking page
- the steps of an online booking you reach (started, a lunch or dinner time chosen, booked), never the date, the time, the number of guests or your details
- how quickly pages load and respond
With each of these we record the page, the hour (except for the booking steps), whether the screen is a phone, a tablet or a desktop, the website that linked you here (its name only, such as google.com) and any campaign tags in the link you followed, such as the one on a QR code.
We use this only to produce statistics about how the site is used, so that we can improve it. It is never used for advertising, never used to build a profile of anyone and never used to make decisions about people. Paid adverts are not measured: if you arrive from an advert, its campaign tags and click identifiers are ignored, and your visit is counted only with the website that linked you here.
No cookies are used. Your browser keeps where your visit came from (the linking website and any campaign tags) in its session storage, under the name momo.src, until you close the tab. If you switch statistics off, your browser keeps that choice in its local storage, under the name momo.stats.
We do not create an identifier for you or your device. Your IP address and browser type are used in passing, to limit abuse and to leave out visits by search engines and other automated programs, and are never stored with the statistics.
Each individual record is kept only until the day ends (London time) and is then deleted, in any case within about two days. After that only daily totals remain, such as the number of views of each page.
We do not share our own statistics with anyone, and no analytics company is involved in them: they are collected and kept by this website itself, with the providers who host it.
You can switch our own statistics off for this browser at any time with the switch below. It is free, it takes effect at once, and you can switch it back on whenever you like. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we honour it and our own statistics stay off. Visits by restaurant staff signed in to the admin area are not counted. The switch does not stop Google Analytics: for that, see Cookies above.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- access: ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- rectification: ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- erasure: ask us to delete your information
- restriction: ask us to limit how we use your information
- objection: object to our using your information on the basis of legitimate interests
- portability: ask for the information you gave us in a format you can take elsewhere

To use any of these rights, email momoealing@gmail.com or write to us at 15 Ashbourne Parade, Hanger Lane, Ealing, London W5 3QS. There is no charge, and we will reply within one month. Some rights have limits: for example, we cannot delete the record of a charge that the law requires us to keep.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab).
Changes to this notice
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
